I follow interesting systems until they become something other people can use.

I’m Garrett Petersen, a Ph.D. economist and independent software builder. My work tends to start with a question—about incentives, language, coordination, history, or play—and end as a working tool.

That has led me from economic simulations and mathematical verification to word games, historical archives, team software, and a globe-spanning sailing roguelike.
